Dixon City Council appoints Tad Smith to Solano County Mosquito Abatement District

The Dixon City Council voted unanimously Sept. 3 to appoint Tad Smith to fill the city’s seat on the Solano County Mosquito Abatement District for a four-year term after longtime representative Joe Anderson retired.
Mayor Bird said the vacancy arose when Anderson stepped down, and that Jack Bachelor had recommended Tad Smith for the position. During the public portion of the item a resident praised Smith’s qualifications: "I can't imagine a a better choice than doctor Smith," the resident said, adding that "the guy gives rotary presentations about disease and just amazes me at what he knows." The council then moved, seconded and approved the appointment by roll call vote (ayes recorded).
The appointment fills Dixon’s representation on the Mosquito Abatement District board; the council did not discuss any associated funding or specific program changes during the meeting. Tad Smith was present in the audience when the council voted to confirm the appointment.
