Salt Creek School District 48's Board of Education approved the district's tentative 2024-25 budget on Sept. 19 and authorized publication of the Notice of Display and the public hearing date. Mrs. Julie Jilek, Director of Operations & Business Services, presented the budget and the schedule for public review; the board voted unanimously to adopt the tentative budget resolution.
The administration also outlined a two-step process to establish a Capital Projects Fund (Fund 60). The process calls for a public hearing and a board resolution to transfer funds from the Education Fund (10) to Operations & Maintenance (20), followed by a second resolution to move funds from Operations & Maintenance (20) into the Capital Projects Fund (60). The proposed FY25 budget includes a $7,000,000 transfer to begin capital reserves.
"The proposed FY25 Salt Creek School District 48 Budget reflects a transfer of $7,000,000 to the Capital Projects Fund for the purpose of beginning to set aside funds for future district facility needs," the budget document states. The board authorized staff to publish required notices and prepare the public hearing for the tentative budget.
