Tonya Ponder, Scurry-Rosser ISD Child Nutrition Director, reported to the Student Health Advisory Council that the Second Chance breakfast program "is not being offered at this time. The main need is during the Fall semester." The district will revisit offering the program next school year based on student need.
Ponder also said a waiver for the summer feeding program was submitted because of low participation the prior year; the district is awaiting approval before finalizing summer feeding plans. The minutes do not say which agency will rule on the waiver or provide a timeline for a decision.
Council members discussed planning for the next school year and agreed that staff will develop a plan if demand warrants restarting the Second Chance breakfast.
