The Chair told the committee the county will add the Miller Veil trail in the town of Osceola to its official trail system and that the town agreed to accompany the county to address insurance concerns. A public hearing for the addition is scheduled for Sept. 1 at the board meeting at 5:00 p.m.
"We'll be adding the Miller Veil to the Osceola that's in the town of Osceola to our trail system," the Chair said, and noted staff had reached out for map verification and insurance coordination with the town. The committee discussed continuing efforts to secure trail links from Osceola to West Lydon, Lewis, Boonville and additional crossings at Glenfield and Lyons Falls.
Members noted some trail connections depend on private landowners; the Chair said the county will keep pursuing access and community connections but that sales of privately owned parcels (for example the Van Handles parcel) could put some routes at risk.
