The Santa Rosa Independent School District Board of Trustees convened a budget workshop on May 12, 2025, in the Santa Rosa High School Library and by videoconference. Board President Kelly R. Ballin called the meeting to order “at approximately 6:00 p.m.” and trustees heard a presentation from Chief Financial Officer Marisa Cuevas.
Cuevas presented multi-year general fund figures showing a decline in the district’s fund balance to $4,013,198 for 2024–25. For the same year she reported total general fund revenues of $12,958,641 and expenditures of $14,249,628, reflecting a structural gap between incoming and outgoing funds. The presentation compared those figures with earlier fiscal years to illustrate a longer-term trend of rising expenditures relative to revenues.
District staff framed the shortfall as a driver for proposed staffing adjustments and compensation-model choices presented later in the workshop. No motions or votes were recorded during the workshop; the session served as information and planning for the 2025–26 budget process.
