County staff: recent storms dumped up to 7 inches locally; dams held peak flows

"You can see in the area around Garden Ridge and Nashbridge Caverns, we had, you know, upwards of 7 inches there," staff said, and showed photos of localized flooding at known crossings.
Staff described sensor data and dam performance: a USGS gauge at Loop 337 recorded more than 20 feet of height during the event, and the Chutes Dam showed just over 8 feet of water behind the structure. Staff noted the Dry Comal system of five dams is designed to reduce peak flows into the Comal and Guadalupe Rivers, and that Eichel Blanc Dam is slated for rehabilitation with NRCS support, though local matching funds will be required.
