Elections staff told the Comal County Commissioners Court on June 26 that the county would apply for a $52,000 Help America Vote Act (HAVA) elections-security subgrant to purchase new electronic poll books. Presenter Ms. Jaquay said current poll books are outdated and do not update, and the grant would allow the county to avoid using chapter 19 funds.
Commissioner Webb moved to approve the resolution authorizing electronic submission of the TXHAVA ES 2025 County 46 subgrant application; Commissioner Crownover seconded and the motion carried by voice vote. Staff said the Texas Secretary of State set a June 30 application deadline and the county requested approval to proceed.
