Comal County accepts donated historical signs for South Access Road

Comal County Commissioners approved a donation agreement with the Dam Community Alliance to install two historical signs along South Access Road in Canyon Lake.
County staff described the proposed sign locations and noted the signs will be located where the speed limit is 40 mph and will be moved if the county relocates that speed limit. A representative of the donor group displayed the signs at the dais. A local sign painter who recreated the artwork said, "I've been a sign painter for 30 years," and described attempting to reproduce the original 1968 sign by Eugene Mesa, noting he tried "to recreate his original brushstrokes." The court approved the donation by voice vote and commissioners agreed to a photo opportunity with the donor board.
