Santa Rosa ISD reviews bond allocation and plans fire-suppression bids, Hog Barn renovation

At the Aug. 18 board meeting, Project Manager Ernie Villarreal presented the district’s bond allocation report and identified several upcoming bid packages. The items include design and bidding for fire‑suppression systems at Jo Nelson Middle School and the Chepe Gym (sprinkler and alarm testing for multiple buildings passed recent county inspections), intercom and LED lighting upgrades across campus facilities, and a detailed set of renovation requests for the agricultural Hog Barn. The board was told Ethos Engineering is preparing proposals to design and bid the Chepe Gym fire‑suppression work and the Hog Barn renovation scope.
The Hog Barn scope described by staff includes a 25‑foot bay extension, closure of a north wall for winter protection, concrete infill in the center area, designated wash pads for large and small animals, ceiling fans, upgraded electrical panels and outlets, ceiling‑hung hose bibbs, masonry bins for manure and dirt, roof repairs and insulation, and relocation of the south fence line. Staff characterized the items as design/bid requests to ready the projects for procurement and construction phases; funding will be drawn from previously approved bond allocations.
