During the recognitions portion of the meeting, the board and district staff acknowledged a string of student and staff accomplishments. Jr. High Principal Sara Ryan recognized Jace Vickery for winning first place with the 4‑H Robotics team at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Band directors and coaches recognized music and athletics achievements, including symphonic band Sweepstakes awards and powerlifting qualifiers; one student, Billy Landers, finished sixth at the state meet.
Staff were also honored: Bonnie Garza was recognized for performing the Heimlich maneuver to save a student during lunch. Communications Specialist Stephanie Lyssy thanked volunteer photographers and the district announced forthcoming observances such as Teacher Appreciation Week and School Nurse Day.
