Royal ISD hires CTE director, votes to terminate probationary contract for one teacher

The board approved a personnel recommendation to hire Maria Jimenez as the Royal ISD Director of CTE & CCMR and offered a one-year probationary administrative contract for the 2026–27 school year. The motion to hire Jimenez was made by Traci Seward, seconded by Elton Foster, and passed unanimously.
After executive session deliberations, the board also voted to terminate the probationary contract of Sherlynn Perrow at the end of the contract term and authorized the superintendent to provide any required notice. That termination motion passed with Elton Foster voting Nay and Rose Jones recording an abstention "without conflict." The board additionally approved teacher and professional contracts as presented.
