Royal ISD authorizes PBK, CMAR and geotechnical contracts for new high school

The Royal ISD Board on Feb. 9 authorized a series of contract actions to advance a new high school project. Trustees voted to authorize the Superintendent to execute an agreement with PBK as architect and to negotiate and execute a CMAR agreement with Durotech under RFP No. 25-RISD-CMAR-B01; the board also adopted a prevailing wage rate schedule for construction trades and authorized geotechnical services with Terracon.
Motions were passed unanimously: the PBK authorization (motion by Cori Vahalik, seconded by Elton Foster), the CMAR authority (motion by Melissa Woods), the prevailing wage adoption (motion by Cori Vahalik), and the Terracon contract (motion by Traci Seward). Trustee Elton Foster asked for more information on Durotech during discussion; Trustee Melissa Woods raised questions about marsh equipment and reimbursable expenses related to geotechnical work.
These approvals move design and preconstruction work forward; the prevailing wage schedule adopted used hourly rates for Texas Gulf Coast areas as determined by PBK.
