Council authorizes $4,930.60 payment for Columbia Gas meter upgrade amid engineering dispute

Council authorized payment of $4,930.60 to Columbia Gas to cover a new 2-inch service line, connections and a meter that will serve a proposed pole building and a new generator at the Borough Office. Joe Mulá of The Mulá Group said the new meter and line are necessary because the existing service could not handle the additional load; the Borough received $860.91 in state assistance that was deducted from the charge. The motion to pay Columbia Gas carried with Dennis Klinedinst recorded in opposition.
Mulá said engineering for water and electric services had been completed earlier and that delays and supply-chain issues affected gas service timing; he noted there remains about $14,000 in the owner’s contingency line. Council tabled a payment application for Shannon A. Smith until generator work is complete. The vote resolved the immediate contractor charge; no further vote on the generator installation was recorded at the meeting.
