Community Progress Council outlines services, cites 561 Red Lion residents served in 2024

Robin Rohrbaugh, president and CEO of Community Progress Council, briefed Red Lion Borough Council on the nonprofit’s local programs and countywide reach during public comment. She said Community Progress operates two Head Start classrooms at Windsor Manor Elementary, a full-time WIC supplemental program, and a resource navigator who connects families to coaching and services. According to Rohrbaugh, the organization helped nearly 14,000 people across York County in 2024 and about 561 in Red Lion; roughly 200 people remain on a waiting list for assistance.
Rohrbaugh framed the agency’s mission “to empower people/families to move from poverty to self-sufficiency,” and left printed materials offering partnership opportunities such as outreach through the Borough newsletter and participation in National Night Out. Tonya Wheeler of the Red Lion School District spoke in support of Community Progress’ Head Start operation and agreed to inquire whether a school-board representative can again attend the Borough’s Recreation Board meetings. Council did not take formal action on the presentation but encouraged staff to explore outreach options with the nonprofit.
