The Santa Rosa Independent School District Board of Trustees voted June 3 to grant Superintendent Dr. Isaac Rodriguez authority to hire teachers for the summer of 2025. The motion was made by Trustee Rachel Olivarez and seconded by Trustee Rene Flores and passed 5-0.
The authority granted covers summer hiring needs to support instruction and pre-registration numbers the district presented during its Budget Workshop II. The agenda notes that detailed contracts for new teachers and administrators were moved to executive session "with no action" taken in open session. The board adjoined to executive session at 6:34 p.m. and reconvened at 7:16 p.m.
Board President Kelly R. Ballin called the meeting to order at approximately 6:01 p.m. and later closed and reopened the meeting for executive-session business. The hiring authorization gives district administrators the ability to fill summer positions promptly; specifics about the number of hires to be made under this authority were not specified in the open minutes.
