Snyder ISD outlines summer learning, Tiger Connect virtual option and expanded meal access

In the superintendent's report at the May 14 budget workshop, Snyder ISD outlined several student-facing program changes and proposals for 2026. The district will operate required and optional summer learning from June 1—25, 2026, focused on credit recovery, STAAR/EOC preparation, attendance recovery and early literacy intervention; programs will include meals, transportation options and certified staff to promote equitable access.
The report also described a proposed district-managed virtual learning option, "Tiger Connect," for students in grades 9—12 that would use an accredited online platform, certified virtual teachers, and a district coordinator to monitor progress while maintaining UIL eligibility. The superintendent noted the district is considering program structure, eligibility and accountability. Separately, the district announced free breakfast and lunch expansions for Snyder Primary (PreK') and Snyder Intermediate (grades 4—5); expanding free lunch to all secondary students would cost an estimated $143,876, and the district reported about $14,000 in outstanding meal balances that families were asked to review.
