ARC urges design changes for The Maverick to reduce front-facing roll-up doors

Daniel Woolridge, project designer, presented The Maverick, a development of four multi-unit buildings intended for warehousing and office use with brick facades and front-facing roll-up doors. Committee members said they want to discourage roll-up doors on front façades and asked the applicant to show alternatives that increase storefront glass or architectural treatment of the doors.
The committee recommended three paths: relocate roll-up doors to sides or rear and replace the front with storefront glass; provide glass roll-up doors to meet the front-façade glass minimum; or provide architecturally treated roll-up doors incorporating glass elements. Melanie Greer moved that the recommendations be incorporated and the plans resubmitted to the Planning & Zoning Commission on May 26, 2026; Kayce Saik seconded and both voted AYE.
