Secondary Principal Christina Rodriguez recognized two staff members for November and praised their work on the Secondary Campus. Rodriguez said the Teacher of the Month, Leandra Adame, and Staff of the Month, Alex Sanchez, “are both a blessing to the Secondary Campus.”
Volleyball coach Leandra Reed and Cross Country coach Eddie Favila highlighted recent team achievements. Reed said the girls finished second in district and earned a Bi‑District playoff berth; Favila reported the varsity boys qualified for state a second straight year and “placed 10th as a team.” Trustees and the board president publicly congratulated the players and staff.
Elementary Principal Heather Cearley also honored longtime employees: she described paraprofessional Karla Dominguez, who has served 17 years, as “the most positive person and face of DZ,” and recognized second‑grade ELAR teacher Joetta Friess for 21 years of service and a team‑oriented approach. Board President Shanna Petty‑Castro thanked staff for their service and representation of Sonora ISD.
