Lockport council approves permits for several community events and facilities use
Summary
Council approved permits for WNY Disc Golf Club (Aug. 31), the Born Brave 5K (Sept. 15), and the Beast of Burden Ultra Marathon (Aug. 10–11), subject to insurance and city logistics.
On Aug. 14 the Common Council granted event permissions for multiple community activities with standard conditions. The WNY Disc Golf Club was approved to hold a tournament at Outwater Memorial Park on Aug. 31, 2024 (7 a.m.–7 p.m.) provided it files a certificate of insurance naming the City as additional insured. The Born Brave 5K was approved for Sept. 15, 2024 at 9 a.m. to benefit Golisano Children’s Hospital, contingent on insurance, restroom access and barricade/street-closure arrangements. The council also authorized Happily Running, LLC to use restrooms and close parking at Nelson C. Goehle Wide Waters Marina for the Beast of Burden Ultra Marathon weekend (Aug. 10–11), again conditioned on insurance and city preparations.
Each event approval was recorded as adopted by voice vote (Ayes 4). The council’s minutes list the conditions required, including naming the City as additional insured on insurance certificates and ensuring public-safety preparations by the Director of Highways, Parks and Water Distribution.
