At its Oct. 13 meeting, the Sonora ISD Board of Trustees approved routine business on the consent agenda and voted to adopt a budget amendment to cover purchases that were approved in the previous fiscal year but completed after Sept. 1.
Trustee Mason Martinez moved to approve the consent agenda and Colby Bates seconded; "The motion passed," with five yeas and two absences recorded. Superintendent Michael Kissire explained that the amendment โ Fund 199 #1 โ was required because some final purchases approved in the prior fiscal year could not be completed until after the new fiscal year began Sept. 1. Martinez moved to approve Fund 199 #1 and Bates seconded; the motion passed with the same vote pattern.
Before that vote, trustees and the superintendent briefly stepped outside to inspect a newly acquired small school bus. The actions taken were procedural and intended to update accounts and authorize completion of previously approved purchases.
