President Laura Symon opened the meeting at 4:00 p.m., and trustees voted to approve the conceptual budget and later the architectural and engineering services. "The board approved the conceptual scope and budget for the SHES Roof, Drainage, and HVAC Project," the meeting record states. The approvals were moved and seconded and carried unanimously.
Board members discussed next steps for contractor procurement and demolition related to site readiness, and the board also adopted Resolution #24-42 authorizing demolition of district personal property under Education Code §17546 and Resolution #24-43 authorizing private sale of district personal property under the same code section. Those resolutions authorize specific transactions needed before construction begins.
District staff will coordinate final design with the selected architectural team and return to the board with contract terms and a project schedule. The board's approvals set the district on a path to replace aging roof and mechanical systems at SHES, a key facilities priority identified in recent capital planning work.
