Health & Human Services presents $2.7M DDA contract supporting employment and day services

Health and Human Services told commissioners the county will place a state contract with the Developmental Disabilities Administration on the motion agenda to continue supported employment and day-services for adults with developmental disabilities.
Gina James of HHS said the FY27 state contract will be approximately $2.7 million; the line items mainly support staff who provide job-coaching and day-services and include a small set-aside for birth-to-3 child‑development services. "If there's an individual who's employed at a business, the business pays that individual just like they would pay you or I in a job. This funding goes towards the staff support that may be needed for an individual to go and perform their job," James said.
James told commissioners the county works with roughly five to six community providers and maintains an open continuous RFP for additional providers; she estimated about 50 employers participate in the program and that roughly 150 adults are enrolled in county services (not all are currently employed). The county typically passes most funding through to providers and retains a small reserve to adjust service levels throughout the year. The contract and passthrough agreements with community partners will be presented for approval in upcoming agenda items.
