Floresville ISD honors athletes and musicians at June board meeting
Summary

The board set aside a long portion of the meeting to recognize student achievements across athletics and the arts. Coach Valdez described the pole-vaulter's progression: "He was 13 feet last year. This year, he is our school record holder in pole vault. He's put 15 feet this year." The assistant band director, Steve Mercardle, presented students who advanced at the state solo & ensemble contest and noted two gold-medal soloists and several silver medalists.
Trustees lauded the students' dedication, and parents were invited to photograph participants at the dais; the board repeatedly thanked coaches, staff and community supporters for program development and scholarship recognition.
