Floresville ISD superintendent warns of $1 million revenue drop; schedules budget workshop

Dr. Gilstrap used the report to introduce new personnel and operational items: he introduced Kevin Oates as a new full-time officer for the FISD Police Department, saying Officer Oates "is coming to us with 28 years of experience," and announced Semonita Coco Pena as the new principal for South Elementary after a competitive search and interview process. He also reminded the board that tax-rate decisions are scheduled for September and would not be part of the late-June special meeting.
The superintendent outlined other administrative matters: a sealed-bid process for an easement property near Circle K with bids due June 18, continuing work on the district's employee compensation plan and an enrollment update showing year-end enrollment of 3,872 and a year-to-date attendance rate of 93.43%. He said conservative estimates will be used to build the budget and that the district "anticipates to be able to present a balanced budget still." The board will not hold a regular meeting in July because of the late-June special meeting.
