Florence schedules Sept. 16 variance hearing for Mid‑South Meter and approves staff travel to two conferences

The board set a Sept. 16, 2025 public hearing for a Mid-South Meter variance request and approved travel for Community Development Director Joel Sims to a Dec. 3-5 training and for Mayor Trey Gunn and Alderman Brian Grantham to an MML meeting Sept. 19, 2025.
On the recommendation of Community Development Director Joel Sims, the Florence board set a public hearing for a variance request by Mid-South Meter & Regulator (owner: Terry Goude) for Sept. 16, 2025 at 6:30 p.m.
At the same meeting the board approved staff travel: Alderman John Banks moved (seconded by Alderman Kyle Martin) to send Joel Sims to the Building Officials Association of Mississippi winter conference (Dec. 3-5, 2025) with the city paying a $250 registration fee and allowable related costs; and, in a separate motion, the board authorized travel for Mayor Trey Gunn and Alderman Brian Grantham to attend the Municipal League Board of Directors meeting in Tupelo on Sept. 19, 2025 with allowable costs covered by the city. All motions were carried unanimously.
The work-session notice attached to the minutes lists Mid-South Meter variance, MSI invoices, and several other items that preceded the regular meeting agenda.
