The Florence board approved a set of small public-works contracts at its Nov. 4 meeting. Alderman Kyle Martin moved and Alderman Brent Sistrunk seconded approval of AJ Construction, Inc.'s $5,000 quote for a 6-inch asphalt patch on Main Street (lowest of two bids). The minutes record the motion carried unanimously.
Park Director Mark Hester recommended and the board approved a $4,500 quote from Brandon Concrete, LLC to replace a damaged concrete pad at the community center, and a $5,542 low quote from Nathanel/Nathaneal Smith to furnish and install fence slats on both sides of the tennis courts (competing fence quote: JM Fence Company $7,473). All motions were carried by unanimous votes in the minutes.
