The South Cle Elum Town Council on April 7 authorized Mayor DeVere to sign the contract documents for the Townwide Water Main Replacement Project. Councilmember McGuire moved to give the mayor authority to sign the contract; the motion, seconded by Sandretto, passed by majority vote.
Town Attorney Jeff Slothower told the council he had reviewed the construction contract and said it was "good to sign." Superintendent Matt announced a preconstruction meeting will take place at Town Hall on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., and noted Fury Site Works has indicated it wants to start work as soon as possible. The superintendent also reported preparatory town maintenance and a possible water curtailment this summer as predicted by KRD.
The authorization allows the town to proceed to the project’s next stage: a contractor kickoff and site mobilization following the preconstruction meeting. The council did not attach conditions to the authorization during the meeting; the project was discussed further in the Town’s unfinished business section.
