Florence board adopts FY2026 budget and salary schedule, enacts hemp retail ordinance, approves telecom franchise

The Florence mayor and board adopted the proposed budget for fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2026 and adopted the corresponding salary schedule during the Sept. 16 meeting; the minutes note copies were attached.
The board also passed an ordinance enacting regulations regarding the retail sale of hemp; the motion carried with Aldermen Banks, Grantham, Herrin, Martin and Sistrunk each recorded as voting Aye. In addition, upon recommendation of City Attorney Bobby Lingold, the board adopted an order to enter into a nonexclusive telecommunications franchise agreement with Contact Network, Inc. d/b/a In Line; the order carried with recorded Aye votes from all aldermen.
