Heritage Pines board approves $19,200 algae-treatment contract with Premier Lakes

The Heritage Pines Community Development District Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Oct. 15 to hire Premier Lakes, Inc. for pond algae treatment at a cost of $19,200 a year. District Manager Chuck Adams presented the proposal and said it represents an annual savings of $3,200 compared with the existing contract with SOLitude.
Mr. Adams said that if approved he would initiate the 30-day termination clause with SOLitude to end services on Nov. 30, 2024, and Premier Lakes would commence service on Dec. 1, 2024. On motion by Supervisor Michael Walsh and seconded by Supervisor Carol Vaughan, "with all in favor" the board approved the Premier Lakes proposal. Mr. Adams described the treatment product as "a copper-based product ... to target algae" and noted that odor after application is from degasification of algae and typically lasts a couple of days.
