Council authorizes letter of intent for Northwest Natural Gas to secure easement at GP Lot 10

Public works presented a proposal from Northwest Natural Gas to reroute a gas line around a wetlands area and run it through city-owned GP Lot 10 (about 0.79 acres south of the ODOT office on Highway 42). Staff said the company requested an easement on city parcel 202 (and possibly 203) and that in lieu of cash payment Northwest Natural would improve access—installing a gate, adding fill and rock, and raising a valve box—and execute a temporary workspace agreement.
"So I guess what we're asking tonight is to authorize the signing of this letter of intent, to to grant the easement, you know, with the understanding, here in written written in that, in that agreement that they will be improving their access to the southern Southwest corner of the station," the public works director said. The council moved and seconded a motion authorizing a letter of intent and a temporary workspace agreement between the city of Coquille and Northwest Natural Gas Company related to easements on GP Lot 10; the motion carried by voice vote. Staff indicated formal easement documents were provided and would be brought back to council at next month's meeting for final action.
