Council appoints Recreation Board members and confirms Halloween Parade logistics

Red Lion Borough Council on Oct. 14 appointed five members to the Recreation Board: Becky Gibney (term to Dec. 31, 2025), Frank Burke (12/31/2025), Byron Trout (12/31/2027), Jen Dettinger (12/31/2028) and Aleksa Keithan (12/31/2029). The motion to appoint was made by Amy Lau and seconded by Cindy Barley; all were in favor.
Council discussed extended-time rentals for Nitchkey Field and a proposal from Windsor Township for a discounted rate if the township helps maintain the fields. The Recreation Committee suggested a $25/day rate ($175/week) for mid-March to mid-June; Council asked Recreation Director Becky Gibney to coordinate with Windsor Township. Mrs. Lau also announced the Halloween Parade will be Monday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. (rain date Oct. 30); preregistration is required and streets close at 6:30 p.m. Gibney reported she is improving record-keeping, preparing accounting spreadsheets for events, and planning further bus trips after a successful Oct. 12 Jim Thorpe trip.
