Council discusses possible abandonment of Elm Lane after resident opposition

Solicitor Mike Craley informed Red Lion Borough Council on Oct. 14 that at least two residents oppose a proposed abandonment of Elm Lane (from Pleasantview Street to the Borough line). Council discussed next steps, including whether to mail formal notices to all property owners and whether staff should visit residents to explain the process.
Council members noted that some homes on the right-hand side of Elm Lane are Windsor Township residents and that Elm Lane provides sole access for lower-side township residents; abandoning the lane would make property owners responsible for its maintenance. Council suggested notifying Windsor Township so the township can alert its residents. Mr. Craley said the Ordinance requires property owners be sent notice prior to abandonment, and he will move forward with that process and report back to Council.
