Kaltreider-Benfer Library seeks same or larger borough contribution after strong year

Rick Bogart, representing Kaltreider-Benfer Library, updated Council on the library's 2023 operations and fundraising and asked the borough to consider funding for 2024–25. He said the renovated library operates at full capacity with public access to 40,000 books and other materials, that the library raised $85,081 through fundraising in 2023, and that 42 volunteers provided 5,720 hours of service. "Currently, 64% of Red Lion residents have library cards, and in 2023, had borrowed 16,347 items," Bogart told Council.
Bogart expressly thanked Council for a $10,000 borough contribution in 2023/24 and asked for the same level of support or more if the borough budget allows. The request will be available for Council and administration to consider during upcoming budget deliberations; no formal appropriation was made at the Aug. 12 meeting.
