County seeks Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy grant for Oak Park fuel-reduction project

Staff from the Office of Supervisor Jeff Gorell reported that the Ventura County Fire Department is requesting grant funding through the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy to support the Oak Park Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) Target Grazing and Fuel Reduction Project.
The project would fund vegetation management and fuel reduction across approximately 37.3 acres adjacent to and upslope of Churchwood Drive in Oak Park to reduce wildfire risk and improve community resilience. Staff also noted the Ventura County Board of Supervisors will not hold regular meetings during July.
