The Borough of Westwood Zoning Board of Adjustment convened its regular meeting at 8:00 p.m. on July 6, 2026, and approved several variance applications and resolutions before adjourning at 9:40 p.m.
Chairman William Martin opened the meeting and the board approved the minutes of June 1, 2026, on a motion by Vice Chairman Eric Oakes and a second by Gary Conkling. Board Attorney Thomas Randall read multiple resolutions of approval into the record, and members voted to approve applications including ZB-26-0100 (Horton, 52 8th Ave), ZB-26-0105 (Minutella, 110 Wheeler Ave), and ZB-26-0106 (Okeefe, 56 Kaufman). ZB-26-0103 (Alia Jaludi, 185 Bergenline Ave) was noted as "Dismissal with Prejudice" on the agenda but was carried to the August 3, 2026 meeting at the applicant's request; Jim Hodges was recorded as recused on that matter.
The board also heard and approved site-specific variance applications later in the evening, and carried three larger applications (several CJA Ventures items and an Eagle Rock Realty application) to September or August hearing dates at the applicants' requests. Chairman Martin said during deliberations, "we are going to discuss this," flagging points the board wanted clarified before final conditions were set.
The meeting included testimony from applicants and professionals and concluded after motions to approve conditioned applications were carried on roll call votes. The board recessed briefly from 9:20 to 9:30 p.m. to allow applicants to make design commitments that were incorporated as conditions of approval.
