Residents urge Oak Park MAC to address tree pests, parking safety and community cleanup

Kathleen Wilford, described as a 30-year Oak Park resident, raised concern about a dotted paropsine beetle infesting eucalyptus trees and asked whether Ventura County intends to treat affected trees or allow the infestation to progress. Michelle Santucci said she would raise the issue with Mariposa Landscaping and Public Works for follow-up, and J.L. Diaz said he would discuss the matter with Mariposa and seek available research.
Other residents asked about community services and safety. Michael Green asked about the status of the annual community cleanup and requested increased outreach to boost participation. Terry Douglas described parking congestion and traffic-safety risks near Doubletree Road and Pheasant Lane during weekend youth sports and suggested additional enforcement and repainting curbs; the Council asked staff to coordinate with the California Highway Patrol about enforcement during weekend events. Steven Kozel thanked Public Works for a hazardous-tree response and asked whether resources exist to help elderly or low-income residents with tree removal; the Chair asked staff to research assistance programs.
