District staff opened a public hearing on the Education Protection Account (EPA) funds created by Proposition 30 and presented an estimate of $21,850,838 for the 2026–27 fiscal year. Staff explained that EPA funds are not new revenue but restore cuts avoided by passage of Proposition 30; the district proposed expanding allowable uses from salaries and benefits to any allowable nonadministrative expense as permitted by law.
"Note that these funds are not new money, rather they represent a cut that was avoided with the passage of proposition 30," Miss Ortiz said in her presentation. There were no public comments; the board approved Resolution 36-25/26 to receive and expend EPA funds for 2026–27 and Resolution 37-25/26 revising 2025–26 expenditures by roll call.
