Mayor assigns Public Safety Committee to contact Fire District #7 about merger; Fire Chief plans Aug. 8 community event

Mayor DeVere told the council he had assigned the Public Safety Committee to contact Fire District #7 about a possible merger and to explore taking the matter to a vote. The mayor said he wants the committee to open discussions with the district as the first step in the process.
Separately, Fire Chief Colton reported he is coordinating with the Cle Elum Downtown Association on an America's 250th anniversary event scheduled for August 8, 2026, at Division Point Coffee & Crepes and plans a bike ride for children as part of the celebration.
