Superintendent Matt reported that the townwide watermain replacement project “got off to a slow start” after crews encountered multiple utilities where they were not expected, but said work picked up this week. He told the council there have been three main breaks since the project began and that neighboring Cle Elum will begin charging South Cle Elum for water lost to leaks.
The council noted the first construction project progress meeting was held May 14 with ten attendees to review schedule and inspector updates. Clerk Luanne was asked to keep the council informed on outage impacts and any additional costs tied to leak-related charges.
