Floresville ISD board honors paraprofessionals, teachers and student athletes

The board recognized paraprofessionals and campus Teachers of the Year, and honored student athletes and FFA teams for state and regional accomplishments during the May 4 meeting.
Board President Steven Shodrock opened the meeting by calling for recognitions across the district, spotlighting paraprofessionals, campus Teachers of the Year and student athletes. Announced paraprofessionals of the year included Arlene Gonzalez (Early Childhood), Wendy Becker (Floresville Middle School), Julie Dillard (Floresville High School), Sandra Ramos (Floresville South Elementary) and Danielle Olade (Floresville North Elementary). Teachers of the Year named by campus panels will be honored at an employee banquet on May 14 and may move on to Region 20 and state competitions.
Coach Yvette Martinez, a track and field coach, highlighted student achievements and academic performance among athletes, noting the combination of classroom success and athletic distinction. "These student athletes exemplify excellence through their academic achievement, athletic performance, and strong character," Martinez said. The board also recognized district successes in tennis, golf, soccer and FFA career development events, including a poultry team that placed 13th in state competition and a milk quality team that finished district first and 21st at state. The board applauded the students and coaches for representing the district.
