The board unanimously approved a resolution recognizing National Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month and encouraging lessons and units of study about the contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans during the month and throughout the school year. Clerk read the "be it resolved" language; Maria moved approval and Alicia seconded. The clerk conducted a roll call; all members voted yes.
The resolution directs schools to incorporate relevant lessons and units of study and is intended as a districtwide recognition rather than a binding instructional mandate. The board did not attach a budget or implementation plan in the resolution; policy and curriculum follow-up will be handled through the Department of Educational Services and existing instructional channels.
