Taos County recommends $182,219 in lodgers-tax grants for FY26 round 2

Dylan Cox, Lodgers Tax Coordinator, told the commission that 18 applications were submitted for round 2 and three were found ineligible; the remaining 15 applications were reviewed and the advisory board's recommendation totals $182,219. Cox said the average application score was 76% and noted the county is now using a Submittable grant platform to streamline applications and track metrics on program beneficiaries.
Commissioners asked about fund balance and outreach to outlying communities; Cox reported a remaining lodgers-tax balance of $606,944.43 and described planned advertising with UNM-Taos and in-person workshops to increase awareness in Penasco, Questa, Cerro and other communities. "The final recommended funding amount is now $182,219," Cox said during the presentation.
