City accepts League of Oregon Cities award for West Linn Waterfront vision

City planning staff accepted the League of Oregon Cities Good Governance Award for the West Linn Waterfront Community Vision Plan and described the long-term, community-driven process behind it.
"The award highlights progressive and innovative, city operations and services across Oregon," said Darren Wise, principal planner, as he described roughly 10 years of engagement for the vision plan, including 7 in-person open houses, about 700 attendees, nearly 3,200 website visits during an early 2024 outreach phase, and nearly 800 unique survey responses. Staff credited repeated work with property owners, tribal and stakeholder meetings, and many internal workshops that culminated with council adoption the prior November.
Councilors praised the work and said the award reflects sustained leadership and engagement; the mayor announced the State of the City address set for June 4 will include a waterfront panel and further public discussion about next steps for implementing the vision plan.
