Tree voucher program exhausted 100 vouchers this year; replacements planned for fall
Summary
Parks staff reported the city issued all 100 $100 tree vouchers offered this year (a $10,000 program), marking the first time the program was fully used; staff said drought led to about five recently planted trees dying and replacements are planned for fall planting season.

Jillian, the parks staff member, told the committee the tree voucher program issued all 100 available $100 vouchers this year and that the program budget is about $10,000. “Since I've been here, we've never issued all 100 tree vouchers that we offer through the parks and rec department,” she said, adding that the program restarts next year if budget allows.
She also reported climate stress on recent plantings: due to recent drought and watering restrictions the department lost about five new trees and plans to replace them in the fall planting season. Committee members asked about maintenance and trimming priorities and staff said the tree maintenance budget will cover upcoming trimming work at Soda Springs Park.
