At the public session on Sept. 8, borough employee Maria Mascuch described day-to-day operations and said she fills in for both water and tax duties while Tax Collector Regina Flammer works limited hours; Mascuch said the workload for water operations ‘‘is not just taking in payments.’’
Residents and commenters spoke strongly about staffing levels. Vicki Schroder said, "we don't need one-part timer we need at least two more bodies in the building," urging the council to stop cutting services to reduce taxes. Susann Brush and others reiterated that replacing a four-hour position does not cover the practical workload. Mayor Hutnick and CFO Mike Marceau said the council will prepare an advertisement and review a staffing analysis; Marceau said he will resend the staffing proposal and assist in drafting the job ad for review by the Mayor and Councilwoman Ruitenberg.
