The council authorized the purchase of a replacement DPW trailer on Sept. 8 after DPW reported the existing trailer—approximately 30 years old—has failing tires and is otherwise worn. Councilman Gandarinho presented two quotes (Performance Trailers in Ledgewood and Hampton RV Sales); he reported the quoted trailers were flat-deck models without a ducktail but included a four-foot ramp/gate, springs on the gate, double axle and approximately 7,000-pound capacity. The council voted to purchase the trailer from Hampton and instructed the CFO to prepare the necessary ordinance and procurement paperwork.
Council discussed that the borough is below the bid threshold, so two quotes were sufficient. The CFO, Mike Marceau, said he would prepare an ordinance for the next meeting; council recognized that immediate tire repairs might be required on the existing trailer while the procurement timeline proceeds.
