Kings County administration presented a proposed response to the Kings County grand jury report titled "Consolidated Fire Communications in Kings County," which the county received June 10, 2026. Administrative analyst Giselle Coit told the board state law (Cal. Penal Code §933) requires the board to respond within 90 days and asked the chair to be authorized to sign and submit the county’s response on or before Sept. 8, 2026.
Coit summarized that staff prepared a response addressing grand‑jury inquiries about radio‑frequency coordination between the county and neighboring agencies and confirmed there would be no fiscal impact from the action. The board moved, voted and authorized the chair to sign and the clerk to submit the response by the statutory deadline.
Staff said the proposed response satisfies the statutory timeframe; the item includes no fiscal appropriation and was presented as an administrative compliance action.
