Committee discusses grant-backed trail build in Black Canyon; volunteer workdays set for August

"It's about a 10% average grade climb," Paul said, describing the alignment's switchbacks, rock features and the way it ties into the existing trail network. He noted professional builders may recommend minor adjustments and that the team will secure quotes and letters of support to complete the grant packet.
Paul reviewed recent work: July turnout was small, and he canceled the first July workday, but volunteers continued to set rocks and rebuild a trail turn. He announced two upcoming Monday-evening volunteer workdays on August 3 and August 17, and said staff and partners are exploring an additional weekend workday later in the year.
Committee members discussed how much OSAC funds should be dedicated as a grant match and asked for cost estimates to be available ahead of the August budget draft. Paul and staff agreed to work with Madison Wills and others to collect professional quotes and finalize the grant's financial plan.
