Board approves rubberized barriers for high-school bus lane to boost safety

The Abingdon-Avon CUSD 276 Board approved a grant-funded purchase of rubberized safety barriers for the high-school bus lane after the superintendent presented the proposal and answered members' questions.
"So that's for the bus lane, at the high school, and, we're we're trying to increase safety there, with our students and the bus and, you know, the kids that Yeah," the superintendent said while describing placement and appearance (dark green) of the barriers and noting they were procured under the grant the presenter discussed earlier.
Board members discussed whether reflective strips would be included; the superintendent said the strips would need to be added. A motion to approve the barrier proposal (described in the packet as coming from vendor "48 barriers") was made, seconded, and after verbal affirmation from members, the chair declared the motion carried.
The superintendent said the barriers would be placed at three openings: two at door locations and one at the far end near the waiting area; installation details and reflective-strip additions will be handled during procurement and installation planning.
