The board approved three extra-duty contracts covering assistant softball, the head track coach position and an assistant football coach. Mr. Duff told the board there are 81 high-school students signed up for track and that spring sports overall have strong participation, which may require hiring additional assistant coaches.
"We have 81 students at the high school signed up for just track," Mr. Duff said, adding the district may need to hire one to two more assistant coaches to handle participation and travel logistics. A board member noted volunteer coaches helped last year and that volunteers complete required OSAA training; one board member abstained on the vote as recorded in the transcript.
